About the Journal

The Wasit Journal of Computer and Mathematics Science (WJCM) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by the College of Computer Science and Information Technology at Wasit University. The journal serves as a high-quality platform for researchers, academics, and professionals to share innovative research and significant technical advancements in the fields of computing and mathematical sciences.

Language

Manuscripts must be written in clear and concise English, free of grammatical and spelling errors. Authors must provide an English proofreading certificate for their paper after the review stage is completed; any certificate submitted before review is considered invalid and will be ignored.

Types of Articles

The journal publishes three types of contributions: original research articles, review articles, and editorials.

Peer Review

WJCM operates a single-blind peer review policy involving two external reviewers. Authors may suggest potential reviewers, or request the exclusion of specific individuals, in the cover letter; the decision rests with the editor. See the Peer Review Process page for full details.

Before Submission

Please make sure that your manuscript meets the following criteria:

Your manuscript is original work and has not been published, and is not currently under review with another journal or conference proceedings.
Your work meets all research-ethics requirements. The manuscript should contain a separate “Ethics Approval” section if the work involves human or animal subjects.
The English of the manuscript is acceptable and free of grammatical and spelling errors.
The figures included in the manuscript are of acceptable quality.
Only manuscripts of sufficient quality that meet the aims and scope of the journal will be reviewed.
A cover letter from the corresponding author is prepared, including the full address, email, and phone number of all authors, with a statement that the manuscript is based on original research and has not been submitted to other journals or sources for publication; that the work described has not been published previously; that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere; that its publication is approved by all authors; and that, if accepted, it will not be published elsewhere, including electronically, in the same form, in English or in any other language.
A signed Copyright Form is included with the manuscript files.
The author is responsible for ensuring the manuscript passes a plagiarism check: the similarity percentage must not exceed 20% for the manuscript to be considered for publication.
Manuscripts must not contain more than 10% AI-generated text to be considered for publication.

Please make sure that your manuscript conforms to the guidelines below. Submissions that do not adhere to these guidelines will be rejected or returned to the author before the peer-review process.

Funding Sources

Authors must disclose any funding sources that provided financial support for the conduct of the research and/or the preparation of the article. The role of sponsors, if any, should be declared in relation to the study design; the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data; the writing of the report; and the decision to submit the article for publication. If funding sources had no such involvement, this should be stated in your submission.

List funding sources in this standard way to facilitate compliance with funder requirements:

Funding: This work was supported by the [Name of Institute/Agency] [grant numbers xxxx, yyyy].

It is not necessary to include detailed descriptions of the program or the type of grants, scholarships, and awards. When funding comes from a block grant or other resources available to a university, college, or other research institution, submit the name of the institute or organization that provided the funding. If no funding has been provided for the research, please include the following sentence:

“This research did not receive any specific grant from funding agencies in the public, commercial, or not-for-profit sectors.”

Submission Documents

When submitting an article, eleven types of documents can be uploaded:

Mandatory (5 documents): Title page, Manuscript, Cover letter, Copyright form, and Author Contribution Statement. You may use the journal’s templates as a guide: title page template, manuscript template, and author contribution statement.
Mandatory under certain conditions (2 documents): Ethics approval and Animal welfare statement.
Optional (4 documents): Figures, Tables, Dataset, and Supplementary documents.

The Title page must contain the submission title, authors’ names, affiliations, authors’ emails, and ORCID iDs, and should be provided in English.

Manuscript Preparation

The manuscript must be written in English only, prepared using MS Word 2010 or later.
The paper length should not exceed 12 pages. Extra pages are subject to the additional charges listed on the Article Publishing Charges page.
The main title is left-aligned, in Times New Roman 18-point boldface.
The abstract should be clear, written as one full paragraph under the main title, and should be between 150 and 250 words, in Times New Roman 10-point.
Keywords appear under the abstract (minimum of five), in alphabetical order, in Times New Roman 9-point.
First-order headings (Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, References) should be in Times New Roman 12-point, boldface, capitalized. Authors may separate or merge the Results and Discussion sections.
Second-order headings should be in Times New Roman 10-point with initial capitals.
The main text should be in Times New Roman 10-point, justified, with no additional blank lines between paragraphs.
Line and paragraph spacing should be set to 1.0.
All numbers should be written using the Arabic numeral system (e.g., 1, 2, 3 …).
Tables and figures should be placed in the Results section in sequence, not at the end of the manuscript.
Figure captions appear below the figures in 10-point, non-boldface Times New Roman. Example: “Fig. 1. Caption.” Refer to figures in the text as (Fig. 1, Fig. 2, etc.).
Table titles appear above the tables. Example: “Table 1. Title.” Refer to tables in the text as (Table 1, Table 2, etc.). Table font is 10-point Times New Roman.
Equations must be numbered sequentially with Arabic numerals placed at the right edge in parentheses: (1), (2), etc. Refer to them as Eq. (1), Eq. (2), etc. Using figures instead of typed equations is not acceptable.

Guide to IEEE Referencing Style

General rules:

Numerical order: References must be numbered in the order they appear in the text.
In-text citations: Use square brackets, e.g., [1], [2, 5], or [1–3].
Author names: Use the author’s first initial followed by the last name (e.g., J. Doe).
Journal titles: Journal names should be abbreviated according to standard IEEE abbreviations and set in italics.

1. Journal articles
Format: [Ref number] Initial. Last Name, “Title of article,” Abbreviated Journal Title, vol. x, no. x, pp. xxx–xxx, Month, Year.

3. Electronic journal articles with DOI (preferred format, as DOIs ensure permanent link stability)

Format: [Ref number] Initial. Last Name, Title of Book, Edition (if not first). City of Publisher, (State/Province), Country: Publisher, Year.

5. Theses
Format: [Ref number] Initial. Last Name, “Title of thesis,” M.S. thesis [or Ph.D. diss.], Dept. Name, Univ. Name, City, State/Country, Year.

Authors’ Declaration

Conflicts of interest: Researchers should disclose financial support, or any other kind of support provided to them, and any financial conflicts or other issues that could affect the results or the interpretation of the research.

I/We hereby confirm:

All the figures and tables in the manuscript are mine/ours. Any figures and images that are not mine/ours have been included with the necessary permission for re-publication, which is attached to the manuscript.
No animal studies are present in the manuscript (only if the author did not use laboratory animals in the research).
No human studies are present in the manuscript (for authors whose manuscripts do not report studies involving human participants, human data, or human tissue).
The author has signed an animal welfare statement (only if the author used laboratory animals in the research; the authors will be required to submit an Animal Welfare Statement).
The authors have signed the ethical considerations approval (authors presenting manuscripts reporting studies involving human participants, human data, or human tissue are required to sign an Ethics Approval and Consent form).
Ethical clearance: the project was approved by the local ethics committee at [name of the university or center that granted the approval].
